branchandroot: oak against sky (Default)
[personal profile] branchandroot

Fic post from my archive.

Compression

Back with his teacher again, Al takes up his studies; this time, though, he already knows some things won't work. Drama, I-3.

He dreamed of the color, sometimes, nights when he woke up sweating and threw open the window just to look up at the sky and know the whole world wasn't red.

Ouch. Ouch ouch ouch, poor Al. *pets him*

wouldn't he try to revert to the old status quo but be mostly unsuccessful since he's changed apart from Ed?
Believing -- and having some small port to host that belief -- that his brother's really still alive somewhere is only going to push him harder to find a way to semi-safely, at least, bridge the gap and try to bring him home, I'd think.

A--wha-?! [blinksblinksblinks] You know, that's one thing I actually hadn't expected. Ed, yeah, I guess I could see going either or both ways. [shrugs] But Al... it never even crossed my mind....

[wicked little grin] Oh, now this *should* be fun!
