Fic post from my archive.
Fuji decides to try his hand against Echizen. It provokes a lot of thought.
Shuusuke felt a touch of excitement flicker along his nerves as they moved out into the open, feet scuffing up tiny puffs of dust to mark where they set themselves. Echizen was good. Not good enough to make Shuusuke lose, but perhaps...

*settles for loving it all and squeaking some more*

Date: 2006-08-29 12:51 pm (UTC)This was a sweet bit. It sometimes scared me how easy it was to picture the boys in traditional marriages. Tezuka always seemed like the one who would be the happiest. I don't know why, but I'm glad it found its way into this story line. And in true Japanese fashion: the man makes the money and the woman controls it and the house! It does prove a problem for Yumiko and Syusuke, though. Is she the daughter than of a courtesean, that she doesn't know who her father is? Although inheritance is passed from mother to daughter, parentage was still improtant for political ties. But it makes me question--is Fuji's choice not to become an officer because of his lack of desire to, or because it would still prevet him from having what he wants?
