PoT: Third Watch: The Rush

Fic post from my archive.
Kirihara's second spin through Regionals, and Nationals, as a captain this time.
The pace of what Akaya couldn't help but think of as the real tournament season had two very different parts. There was the daily practice with his team, which, while demanding and sometimes intense, had a smooth swoop to it. And then there were the actual tournament matches, that sprinted along like a heartbeat after an adrenaline spike.

Date: 2005-05-10 04:42 am (UTC)Momoshiro like Niou.... Hmm. were you aware that there's a mangapuri chapter in the Rikkai matches where Momoshiro is referred to in the same way as Niou? *at least, in the Chinese translations they use the same term to indicate trickster, etc.*
Yes, we feel your pain, Kirihara. It's very nice to know and test your own strength, but there's also something to be said for watching such brilliant, shiny players like yours seniors trample almost everyone into the dirt. Through the power of the shiny. *excepting of course, those in other schools who are just as shiny, albeit in different ways*

Date: 2005-05-10 04:43 am (UTC)I love how you manage to show totally undiscovered aspects of the characters, while still remaining 100% IC. Also, your language? You're just able to phrase something with such beautiful, succinct language.
*fangirls* ^____^
So, is there anymore to come? Heh.

Date: 2005-05-11 01:29 am (UTC)There is more to this arc, in various stages of construction. *eyes wip file* It'll be along.

Date: 2005-05-10 05:21 am (UTC)And you know what? Thank you for not making it a Seigaku vs. Rikkai final at the Nationals. Because even though Konomi made Ryoma strong and whatnot, there is NO way that they would be able to win with Ryoma, Kaidoh and Momoshiro alone.

Date: 2005-05-11 01:32 am (UTC)*eyes Sanada* Yeah, we're working on that; not sure how it will go, yet.
And it just had to be Fudoumine. I mean, all but one of them have done this once before! They'll be phenomenal next year!

Date: 2005-05-13 02:44 pm (UTC)(I'm thinking Kamio won his game, and Yuuta lost, but then one has to feel for poor Fuji-otouto...he's always losing in canon, and to do that to him in fanfiction as well...)
Being responsible and captainly and not breaking people like that into little pieces was such a pain.
Ahh...poor little Akaya-buchou. It makes me wonder how he's going to adapt to being the brat of the team again. After all, he's been out of Yukimura's orbit for a year, and how is that going to change the relationship between the two of them?

*hearts you madly* Those are exactly the questions I'm writing to answer! Now that Kirihara's had a taste of being in command, and all the headaches that go with, things can't just go back to the way they used to be. No matter how much he or anyone else might like them to.
And he's about to go through some of the same process emotionally, too. *rubs hands*

Date: 2005-05-10 07:05 am (UTC)But... Kirihara... [smiles]
{GRINS} there's gonna be some serious mud slinging when that boy gets to high school... [rubs hands together in anticipation] this might just get better than Tennis Sanctuary... [eyes a certain nongendered Satan] NAH!
Still, Challenge and Third Watch is a fabulous series and I will have much fun pimping it out all over.
{sighs} I guess we really won't get that dukefest between Suzuoki and Yukimura, huh?

Date: 2005-05-11 01:33 am (UTC)*snerks* Yeah, a lot of things are scheduled for when Kirihara gets to High School. Including Suzuoki. But winter comes first!

Date: 2005-05-10 10:11 am (UTC)Hi! *waves shyly* I'm just a lurker who's been following your fics for a while...
Momoshirou like Niou! Although i think a lot of people have commented on that... And Kirihara's thoughts on Echizen... I really, really like the way treat Ryoma - keeping his 'specialness' for lack of a better word without letting it overwhelm the other characters and the story, or his own character either.
And Kirihara himself is just *love*

Date: 2005-05-11 01:36 am (UTC)Ryouma is fun to work with. I mean, he's the Wonder Kid, but he's out of step and out of place in so many little ways that have to give him problems like everyone else's. *considers* Actually, Kiri-elf is a little the same way. Maybe that's why it's fun to bounce them off each other every so often. *grins*

Date: 2005-05-13 02:21 pm (UTC)*hearts hearts hearts* And thank you for Third Watch! It's the POT story I've always wanted to read.
