branchandroot: face in gold with bowl of shimmer (ascetic gold)
So, since the Ann Arbor Art Fair is not happening this year, I decided that I would have a small, personal Art Fair on whatever July week I took for vacation this year. This year was going to be a jewelry year, and I'd hoped to find some good metal-work jewelry, so I favorited four or five Etsy artists who work with anodized aluminum, to keep track of them until then.

It hasn't been a particularly restful vacation, but I have had a very successful "Art Fair"!

For those who might like to similarly browse the art:

Hunky Punky Studio does hand-painted abstracts over anodized bases, which is both beautiful, and so artsy I almost can't stand it. Perfect Art Fair material!

Manifest Design Montreal has really lovely "tag" style pendant necklaces and earrings to match. I got a set in blues and greens. Had to keep myself from spending my last 50 worth of hold-out budget on a set of red earrings, because I /know/ they don't really go with any of my wardrobe, no matter how gorgeous the colors are.

Rebeca Mojica Jewelry does chain-mail style but with a really cool knotwork-feeling twist. I got the small V knotwork necklace and a pair of single-knot earrings to match in the "granite colorway" which means silver, champagne gold, and coppery brown. Really gorgeous and subtle. Now, I really, really need someone to buy the blue-and-green version so I can live vicariously through you. I /love/ that color combination, but it's another one that I just don't wear.

Allen Metal Arts does organically curled and flowy pieces. I got a green-and-gold abstract leaf-looking set and had to firmly restrain myself from getting about three or four blue water-looking pieces too. I /did/ get red-and-black bell style earrings here, though.

I did not wind up getting anything from Quiddity Designs, but I was mightily tempted by the blue wave necklace and the textured pearl necklace.

And if anyone is wanting stained glass, this year, I've been drooling over Joanne Paone Gill's work for, like, two solid years now. Maybe stained glass again next year...
