So... has anyone else noticed that gwaddiction.com has been invaded by malware? You can't even get to the site itself; the script is a random redirect.

Oy, Tyr, get on the ball, here. That archive is the only place a lot of those fics are available.

Not temporary; I've tried it several times today. At the gwaddiction.com address I get an "insurance" phony blog page and, if I attempt any action, from reloading to backing up to closing the tab, I get taken to what is clearly also a phony virus scan site geared toward Windows, which "performs a virus check" and then offers to "fix" the viruses found with a mock-Windows dialogue box linked to something which I am certainly not stupid enough to click on and check. Wherefore Google is listing the site as an attack-site.

Just hit it again, went to the archive clicked into a couple random authors & stories.

Using IE8, if that might make a difference. The forums have been down since July.

Are you using a Favorites quick-link or a bookmark, or are you typing the url straight?

Could be targeted on Firefox, then, or possibly something more arcane. I tried it both by bookmark and by url, same result both times.

I get through fine on Firefox2, and noscript doesn't throw any fits, either. BUT -- strangely, if I open it in Safari, I get malware warning! Oi, vey, wasn't there someone replying farther down who had no problem with Safari but did have a problem with Ffx?

Makes absolutely no sense to me, a-tall.

Me either! I mean, if it's targeted by user agent, it should be consistent. Totally weird.

And the weirdest part is, the geocities site /draws/ from gwaddiction.com. So it appears to be the frame alone that's affected, not any of the content.

Curiously enough, Firefox didn't like it, but Safari had no problems pulling it up.

And now I have a folder full of fic that ranges from "embarrassingly bad" to "...huh. That's... almost good!"

Dear god, I shared some of the most ridiculously intimate things in my fic headers back then.

Yep. Now sometimes that just means it links to a malware site somehow, but in this case there is an actual embed-and-redirect (though apparently not for everyone) to a scam site trying to install malware.
