*leans on keyboard, panting* Whew! That was a fucking marathon! And I speak advisedly. Three stories, one long and two short, in two days. One standard lemon mixed with psychology, one totally plotless lemon which I almost never do, and one introspective.

*eyes characters*

You guys are going to give it a rest for a bit, now, right?

Ed: Well, there was that one other short one...

Branch: *stuffs characters into Storyspace, slams door, nails it shut*

Sorry about rough stuff. I've just been taking an internet break for a while.

For me, things are good. School is- better than last year, and better is all that's to be hoped for usually. I've been doing a lot of RL social stuff, which is new for me, and irritating and wonderful by turns.

Isn't Lys ap Adin a GW ficcer? I remember that name.

Yeah, Lys spent a long time in GW, good humor and pov. She's not ficcing a whole lot at the moment, though.

Of course, I may have succeeded in seducing her to Fullmetal Alchemist. It's a new show, airing in Japan this year. Now that fansubbing has gone digital, the subbers can get an ep out a few days after it airs on Bittorrent or irc. Torrent, for me, irc still alarms me. It's odd. Vaguely 19th C historical but no recognizable countries or organizations. Alchemy (well, a variation of it) works, and Our Very Short Hero is a prodigy at it (that's him in the icon). Tons of angst. Lovely artwork. And, hey, Paku Romi voices the hero (she did Ken/Kaiser for Digimon, too). It has truly taken over my brain and after over a year of not writing fiction of any sort I find myself unable to *stop* writing.

Talk about the dam bursting... ^_^;

I'm only surprised no one thought of alchemy in anime before. Always with the magic. Then again, from what few reviews I could find of it, I'm thinking alchemy works more like magic in this series than the chemistry-alchemy of old.

I always feel vaguely guilty watching fansubs. Do you think the series will ever make it to the states legitimately? If it's even slightly popular it probably will, since I can find all kinds of obscure stuff in the stores these days. But it might take a while....

Dunno. I think FMA is likely to be picked up by something like Adult Swim, but it might take a year or two. That seems to be the standard lag, these days.

It's a bit of rationalization, but if it weren't for the fansubbers, the commercial companies wouldn't have any idea what would be popular. I like to think of it as a symbiotic relationship.
