i totally read this as "apostrophes are pronounced boring", as in "we shouldn't bother with those lame punctuation marks any more."

the correct reading is rather more interesting.

If I do another goblin book, I'm going to work in an apostrophe name just so I can mentally add the "boing" every time I do a reading :-)
