Backstage: Part Two

Tezuka and Atobe meet while out fishing, in the Spring of their third year of high school. Conversation, verbal jousting, poetry, philosophy, angst, dramatics and humor ensue. Drama with Budding Romance, I-3

Kunimitsu considered his companion as he sorted through his hooks. Atobe was a showman, even when he was relaxing. If he was showing exhaustion, he probably wanted to be asked about it.

I don't understand. Was Atobe's family pressuring him to drop tennis and go into business instead? Why did Tezuka say kendo?

You got it. Kendo is the reciprocal thing that Tezuka's family thinks should be more important than tennis. *snorts* As if.

*shrug* My family thinks (probably still does) that I should be an engineer or something. My father kept pushing me that way. Personally . . . I'm not sure what I want. But I idolize Tez because he knows what he wants. Never mind that he really isn't a realistic 15-year-old. He seems more 23-ish to me. (Why 23, I don't know. Older than me is good enough, perhaps?)
