So, it sounds to me like Hawkings' new deal means that, if one could induce a black hole to form, knowing what went into it, and then observe the radiation by which it lost mass over time, one would be able to work out the equation that describes how the formational mass/energy changes when radiated. And, from there, one could apply that equation to black holes of unknown formational mass and deduce, at least in part, what went into them.
Hm. So 'turning a black hole inside out' may not be a useful way to describe how one might (theoretically, in a fictional universe) get the energy to break the fourth (dimensional) wall. *sighs* And it was such an evocative phrase.
It is, however, amazing what you can find semi-randomly on google.
