Ryouma knelt where he was, staring up at the General. He could feel the deadly thin line of Tezuka-dono's sword against his throat. It didn't move when the General spoke.

*grins* Really, the entire Seigaku section of these stories all bear down toward this.

I badly wish I had artistic talent of any sort, because I would /love/ to see this scene in visuals. That image of Tezuka holding Ryoma at swordpoint is gorgeous.

I love the train of Ryoma's thoughts, especially in the last couple of paragraphs. The whole scene just seems to click and make so much more sense than the match did in canon (which has always left me feeling vaguely dissatisfied(.

*hearts* Thank you! *grins* And, yeah, this was one of the images in my head that started the whole arc rolling. I would love to see it drawn, but I'm totally hamhanded at sketching. *sighs*

*nodnod* The emotions that are gestured toward in canon really work better for me when there are sharp pointy things at stake; it gives more depth to the passion involved, I think. *wry* Of course, if Konomi were any good at writing emotions/motivations that might not be the case, but there it is. We have all these fantastic hints that are never developed.

Well, that's what fans are for. *chuckles*

new reader! You have me HOOKED. I love how the boys of Tenipuri fit right in with your AU and how much more satisfying the action is with swords. :D The characterization of the characters = ♥. Kudos, and looking forward to the next chapter! :D
