I was thinking, at the start of this, about how she was a rising officer so young. And thinking that, yes, it's her own drive and skill. But one of the other traditional elements of bright-young-officer-ness is coming from a good family. And then I thought, well, what if those two parts were in conflict? It would explain a few things about that fierce self-reliance of hers, and why its matched with such... classiness.
