Lisa had been a sweet, cheerful girl, when he'd met her. But she'd been seventeen at the time. He hadn't been surprised that she'd become more solemn, when she showed up as his new Second Lieutenant two and a half years later. People changed as they grew up.

Watching the slow dawning of the Clue is a lovely thing.

So is Roy in his natural habitat - scheming.

*pleased* I think I finally figured out why I couldn't have romance without the scheming, or vice versa. It's because Lisa does love him for all of him, and, increasingly, vice versa.

Of course, there's also a hefty dose of "what's the worst thing I can do to the character", since making him figure out some new way to court a woman was pretty well up on the list. *grins*
