You know, the magnitude of Fai's shock in 125 makes me think that the offer to kill was somehow between him and Ashura-ou. Knowing RG Veda, I'm inclined to suspect that Fai was supposed to kill his king, not just seal him, or something like that. It would be in keeping with CLAMP's taste for parallels. It would also help explain why he finally stops protesting.

Date: 2006-10-05 05:30 pm (UTC)*thoughtful* Give Fai's self-destructive streak, and the ambiguity of that line, I'm inclined to read it that there was some bond forged between him and Ashura-ou when Ashura took him up, and Fai thinks he himself was the one who betrayed it. *wry* It would /also/ be very in line with CLAMP for Ashura to wake and pursue Fai, not out of anger, but out of either hurt or affection--and for /that/ to be what Fai can't handle and has to flee from. They do love their misdirection.
