About those bears

You know, on reflection (and the cherry-picking edition of Guardian rewatch), it occurs to me to wonder just how much of the Trolling With Bears interlude was a way to (somewhat) subtly discourage Zhao Yunlan from involving the rest of SID in his 'consultations' with Shen Wei. I can't help feeling there's a definite thread, in there, of "send a minion with a computer to communicate with me and I will troll you mercilessly in front of them; remember that".

And you notice, Zhao Yunlan never tries that again.

The bears happen after Chu Shuzhi delivers the thank-you banner on Zhao Yunlan's behalf, don't they? Maybe that was what prompted Shen Wei to have convenient bear pictures to hand.

99% of my list uses "Guardian" solely to refer to the newspaper. I thought I would share this in case the image of how confusing this made trying to parse the first sentence was until I realized you meant a show. >.>

I'm so deeply enmeshed in Guardian fandom that I keep having the reverse problem lately, with the moment of "OH, wait, this is a link to something serious (and probably appalling)". ^^;

Hugely. *grins* You get the feeling that, gentle as he is with his students, he's probably a big proponent of Object Lessons toward adults/peers/people he's flirting with.

I never thought about it that way before, but this is a nice headcanon! That scene is one of my favourites, anyway (at least halfway because of the jealous faces Zhu Hong was making and Da Qing's teasing), and now there's a different perspective to be added to the mix the next time I watch it!

Oh wow, seriously. She's so /young/ about it. You can totally see why Shen Wei is really very gentle with her, when they start having to interact more directly.

Right? Shen Wei and Zhu Hong's evolving interactions were really interesting to watch. The way she went from suspicion to open hostility to resignation to acceptance was nicely done, imo. You can really see the natural progression of her falling first more deeply, and then slowly out of, love with Zhao Yunlan and coming into her own at the end, there, and I disagree with the popular opinion that her crush was "unnecessary" or that it detracted from her character development somehow; I personally thought it was integral. (I liked how you took it a step further in Changes, too, btw!)
