The Guardian re-watch has reached 33, and yeah, that's some very special brothers right there.

In today's words, Zhu Hong's Thing for powerful people who are kind of assholes a significant part of the time but also have a kind streak strikes again, and she is absolutely head over heels for Ya Qing. Mostly because I am one thousand percent done with the lack of closure and moving on, for her. She deserves an ongoing ending that is /better explained/ than "behold, she's Chief Elder now and everyone likes it".

Ya Qing smiled, slow, cocking her head. "What an ambitious scope you think in, Chief Elder," she purred. "I think I like it."

Hong tried very hard not to squeak, or blush any more, or, really, react at all. She was pretty sure she was failing. "Then..." she cleared her throat and forced the breathlessness out of her voice. "Then I'll consider, with the Elders, how this might be done to everyone's satisfaction."

Ya Qing laughed, softly. "Everyone's? You're an idealistic child. But I think perhaps I will like that, as well. Better than the reverse, at least." She gathered her cloak about her. "Perhaps that ancient bit of wood truly does judge our natures." In a flash of wings, she was gone.

I dig this. The most popular pairing for her is with Li Qian, which I think is mostly because of the Ya Qing/Ying Chun vibes, but I think Ya Qing is a far more interesting pairing for her, I think she would benefit from Ya Qing's experience, perspective, and ambition--and a threesome with Ying Chun wouldn't be bad, either, and hey, all three Yashou subtribes represented--and also, I admit, I am more inclined to wonder about the possibilities in Li Qian/Dr. Cheng (because Cong Bo got better, but still nowhere worthy of Dr. Cheng's awesome).

Dr. Cheng's is /made/ of awesome. Cong Bo is undoubtedly the president of her online fanclub, but no. Put together with Li Qian's awesome, they might be too much for one timeline to hold. I can just imagine Lin Jing teasing his boss/xiao-jiejie about falling in love with her teacher's friend, though.

That is true, but Li Qian's quite mature, once she's recovered from the shock of her grandmother's death and everything surrounding the LD, and I figure if Wang Yike and Zhang Ruonan can make it work, Li Qian and Dr. Cheng are just the power couple Dragon City needs to fill the Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan vacuum (unless it's a fix-it, in which case, they are still a power couple Dragon City needs, because the boys shouldn't have all the fun).

Either Lin Jing needs people to tease to take his mind off losing the woman with the most awesome hair ever, or he'll be too busy trying to keep up with the woman with the most awesome hair ever to tease anyone else about their amorous pursuits.

MMMMH Yum! I am all in favour of a good new direction for Zhu Hong, the switch to 'Tribe Elder, now everything is fine' was a bit abrupt for my tastes.

It's also perfect timing, because it's just this week (in the process of writing my everywoman requests) that I suddenly realised what a great pairing Ya Qing/Zhu Hong would make. So happy to discover I'm not the only one. :D
