“You’d never do it,” he said quietly. Naruto would never, ever countenance or perform or let be performed the operations he’d seen the results of up in Stone. And Naruto still insisted he was going to be Hokage, and, even if that didn’t work out, at this rate the idiot was looking to be Konoha’s top medical ninja after Tsunade. So that was all right.
And this bit:
Maybe it was even a good thing Sakura was out on her own mission, right now, because otherwise she might have been the one sent to Hidden Stone. It could have been her who saw the results of one too-charming medical researcher’s experiments, cared for now as best their village could manage for however long they would live. He didn’t want her to ever have to see something like that. Not her, not Naruto, they shouldn’t have to look horror in the face.
Ouch. I hope he doesn't have problems with Sakura once she comes back and they find out what she's been doing!

Date: 2011-10-13 08:04 pm (UTC)I loved seeing Sasuke and Ino interact as adults, as peers who work to protect the same village, who understand each other even if they're not close, instead of children who can't even really see each other. It's really cool to see the way that develops.
And if it did happen, the way his gut knew it might well, if it did… well, it wasn’t like Sasuke hadn’t seen horror before. He’d help as best he could. Oh man, sasuke. My heart. I really hope that's foreshadowing for the next chapter. D: Naruto the mednin will never ever stop making me grin though. A lot a lot a lot.
And kakashi's little thing at the end, with hoping he isn't getting anyone else he cares about killed--the fact that you can tell he legit DOES care about her, not just in an afterthought kind of way but seriously, same as the boys (though I still get the feeling that Sasuke is special, but that's different. That's clan). It's such a little thing, but I love it lots.<3

I'm fully convinced that Naruto /loves/ being able to boss people around as a medic. It's for their own good! He's totally justified! Fortunately, he's also kind of insanely dedicated and really is pretty good at this stuff.
*grins* Sasuke is a little special, yeah. I think Kakashi sees a lot of himself in Sasuke. But he's totally bonded to all three of them, infuriating as he sometimes finds them. Kakashi bonds too tightly for his own good, sometimes, I think.
