Niou and Yagyuu become a doubles pair, and the game continues. Drama, I-3

Masaharu opened his mouth to ask a pointed question about why it was Yukimura making all these decisions and announcing them, and not the captain standing, silent and uncomfortable, behind the Trinity. He closed it again, with a smooth look, at Sanada's burning glare.

I really, really like the way you're building the sense of a team here (especially since it's not the Rikkai we see now, but very much how they must have been a year or two back), but without letting go of the Yagyuu/Niou dynamic, either. ♥ Niou's observation skills make a wonderful sort of sense--not a data specialist like Yanagi, but observant enough that he can be a trickster--you have much more success at playing tricks on people (or impersonating them--and I've loved the references to that copying, but without making a Big Huge Deal about them) if you're a people-watcher and understand how they move/react.

Your Niou is hitting all the right buttons for me, but I'm also massively in love with your Yukimura and the way Sanada quietly but with such a strong presence behind him, supports Yukimura. ♥ ♥

*nodnod* Watching Niou be 'Yagyuu' it really struck me that he must be a people-watcher to be able to take on that public persona.

*puzzled* I actually started out intending to write just Yagyuu and Niou, but the rest of the team just crept in. Like they were part of the definition for those two. Not sure if that's Konomi-sensei or just me. They are a ton of fun, though.
