Question for my readers

Okay, I need some second opinions, here.

Do you think I should extensively tag my fanfic or not?

I mean, should I tag it with series, characters, arc, pairing and so on? Or just with 'fic' and 'series' and 'arc'?

I suppose the tags make it easier to browse, but the thing is none of the actual fic is here; the fic posts are summaries and links to my archive site. And the archive site has all the navigational bells and whistles on it already.

And before too long the complex tags will make my tag list really kind of huge and stunningly long.

So, what do you think? Basic tags or complicated tags?

Well if you've already tagged the hell out of your archives site, I'd say basic would be fine.

I really appreciate elaborate tags, as a reader. Then if I remember something you wrote a million years ago and have to go hunt for it, it's pretty easy to find.

However, since you have the other site, and all, it really comes down to how much time you want to invest in tagging things; it doesn't bother me, but I know some people get annoyed with having a zillion tags on a post.

Not like it particularly matters, but I've always like at least series and pairing. :D

Series is helpful, because I can't always tell which characters are which -- oi, I'm slow sometimes (and not really in any fandom much these days, anyway, but still, sometimes ya get a hankering).

Otherwise, uh, naw. If other info is inserted along the way to the actual item, so much the better: but I can't see reason to clutter the tags with more than just the broadest of categories.

I'd go basic and maybe mention in your profile that there is extensive tags on your website.
