Do you mean it sounds strange to you for Yukimura to call him that, or for the narrative itself to call him that? Because it's actually one of my own personal irritants when a story is told from inside the head of some character who always seems to be thinking of himself by his family name rather than his given name. So, whenever I write in intimate third person, which is pretty much all the time, I use the given name; it does give a story a very different flavor than the source text, though. I think it's one of the knottier problems of writing a story in words that's based on a story in images.
