Aha! For some reason, the comments field is way down at the bottom on my browser...

Anyway, I'd be awfully curious to know exactly which rights-holders have allowed this. I've talked to my publisher in the past about fanfic, and their official line is to discourage it. Since DAW is a subsidiary of Penguin, and Penguin is listed as one of the "partners" on the Fanlib site, I find myself feeling a bit skeptical about their claims.

And so far, I'm not aware of a single author who has been contacted by their publisher with a request to release the rights for a project like this. It's possible this has happened and I just haven't heard about it, but the whole thing makes me wince.

Not that it's likely to affect me personally. Somehow I don't see goblin fanfic catching on any time soon ;-)

I've been following but not in detail (it's always looked like a stupid idea to me). Tammy was posting about this yesterday and included the quote from one of the pages discussing it: "Typical men. They see a group of self-governing women and want to wade in, wag their dicks about, and announce they are here to take care of all the ladies."
