*laughing* I may just have to cite the lacrosse thing as an example of how recognizable these things are to the audience.

I am thinking I may have to do both manga and anime for all of these, if only because that's a genre issue itself. And I suspect that what happens to a story when it starts as manga and becomes anime is a recognizable and classifiable thing. The shape of the difference between the two certainly seems to be consistent.

Slam Dunk: Both easily available and the anime is quite good (Mitsui is my fave of Okiayu's characters) though some of the games really drag on. I think if the fandom were still quite active, SD would have pulled me away from PoT.

H2: Manga is being scanlated. (The series is complete.) There was an anime but I haven't been able to track it down. There was also a recent live action version, which I have, but haven't watched all through, since I don't want it to spoil me for the manga. I've watched some, though.

Hajime no Ippo: Both easily available. The manga is, as I mentioned, ongoing.

ES21: Both easily available, both ongoing.

Whistle!: Anime complete and available, manga being published by VIZ, and they're not too far through yet. I've never been able to find scanlations for more than the first couple of chapters.

Touch: The anime should be easily available. I haven't seen the manga anywhere.
