What we want to read
Apr. 3rd, 2006 11:14 pmA story can be good, and not be what you want to read.
In many, many cases, the most honest feedback to give an author is not "That was really good", but rather "I really enjoyed that a lot".
No reader should ever be ashamed of her own enjoyment, and most certainly not so ashamed that she starts to confuse "good" and "desirable" so that she can hold onto some kind of Badge of Exalted Readership.
A good story is a wonderful thing.
A living story is one that is enjoyed.
