I definitely needed the appendix of names, for a while (https://exiledrebelsscanlations.com/gdc-character-and-sect-guide/), but it did get better in time. It feels kind of like just starting in anime fandom with five different titles used for the same character, and no good gloss of them in the subtitles, and straining my ears going "wait, does that mean the same person?".
