Sasuke gave up on logic, as he so often had to around Naruto and just shook him. "Shut up and listen to me," he said, low and deadly. "I am not letting you run yourself right into ambush. Understand? Not by those bastards and not because you were too unbelievably bullheaded to Stay. With. Your team!" Three more hard shakes punctuated that, and Naruto finally blinked at Sasuke like he knew who was in front of him.

Aaaah, tension! *bites nails*

I love all the practical realism you're bringing to a story about, essentially, magical reality-warping ninjas. :-) Like the kids sharing intelligence and picking Kakashi as the person to bring their thoughts to higher authorities. Or the way both Sasuke and Naruto occasionally need someone to yank them back to rationality... and they get that support, because their teammates know their triggers and are ready to provide it. Or Hidden Sand very sensibly sending trackers and a retrieval team of their own after Gaara (which, yeah, seriously, why didn't that happen in the manga?). Chiyo explaining about the extraction procedure, because of course that's how Sand gets Shukaku into the... whatever it is they keep him in. (I want to say a teapot, but that sounds ridiculous. My memory, it is a sieve.)

I can't wait for the cliffhanger to resolve next week.

Although how much do I love Sasuke thwapping Naruto back into common sense, and the team snuggling, and Kakashi being freaked out by Tsunade's thoughtful looks?

Another great chapter! I love the inter-team bonding at the beginning, and the reasonable explanation of why their cohort is definitely not the norm, and Sasuke telling Naruto not to run off without backup, and Naruto healing. Also, where you chose to end the chapter is definitely evil. ^_^

I love how you've got Sakura playing with Shikamaru. In a universe where she's allowed to be as smart as she is, I could see the two of them having the /weirdest/ friendship, in that way where sometimes you don't even care who the other is as a person because you're so happy to have someone you can talk to on your own level. I love Ino and Naruto sparring, and Sasuke pretending pretty badly that he's not totally going "MINE *HISS*" at the mention of people trying to take Naruto, and Mastermind!Sakura--have I mentioned recently that the way you write sakura kind of makes me flail with glee.

Almost immediately, as he’d half expected, he had a teammate snuggled up on either side. D'awwww, team seven. D'aww. <3

And Fuunotora is back! \o/ Most awesome OC. And Lee getting to be awesome.

Also, out of curiousity, is this in the same universe as you BB fic? Cause your Neji. Mmm.
