Takes place just after Weider ends. Having made his decision, Naoji has some work getting Ludwig to see what it does and doesn't mean. Drama with Romance, I-3

"I will go back," Naoji said softly. "I don't know exactly when; I only know that I will. But until then," he turned to face Lui. "Until then, I will go with you."

Many years after the series ends, Naoji returns to Kuchen. Drama with Romance, I-3

He remembered the scent of this air; it struck him far more deeply than the clothes or colors or sound of the language. The scent of large, fallen leaves and cool, slow water--he remembered this.

*sparkles* Okay, so I haven't actually gotten to Wieder yet, but these are really very lovely pieces in their own right.

*swoon* The first one, points for little Lui drama that ended with him pwning flawlessly. But, points for both for a Naoji that takes it all in strides and laughs. I don't know why i liked that little easy-going, familiar-with-Lui's-ways Naoji, but I really did ^_^ And this is quite possible the first ficlet I've ever read of Naoji coming -back- to Kuchen. ^_^ Lovely.

Ah, these are perfectly lovely. I love the way they talk to each other in a kind of private code, and the way they grow up, palpably, in the time between these two pieces and can still use that same code, almost unaltered; and I love the way it's a relationship between equals, at least from the inside, no matter how it might look to an outsider. And the sensory vividness of it -- the rain on the window glass, the scent of leaves -- is glorious.

Uwah~! All right, so it's been about a couple of months since this was posted, but I figure one more review (even if you never read it) can't hurt, right? Because really, this fic makes me so, so happy. You've entirely nailed the characterisation - Naoji is perfectly understated and so, so - Naoji, perfectly anticipating and complementing Lui and Lui is just so - AURGH. Starkly in character. Everything about him, his twisted Lui-version of not-drinking-tea-sulking and the possessiveness and the pointed kissing. I haven't even finished the series yet but really, I couldn't help but look for slash. And I'm really glad I did, because I can't put into words how squee-worthy this is.

Trust Lui to put everything in the starkest black-or-white terms he could find. Naoji huffed a little, ruefully. Lui was as bad about that as Orphe, really. On a random note? So true, and it made me laugh.
