fma gen fic

Ok, here's the story.

It's gen, some angst, some fluff. NOT Roy/Hughes, no matter what your reflexes say to the contrary, not past, present or future, amen.

There will be more to follow it, though I think the next thing I write *will* be Roy/Hughes, the one Trudy-chan wanted me to write. A stand-alone, I think.

Ed: You said you would do the violin-bunny next!

Emily: I said I might. Not my fault if you guys can't decide whether you want plot or not. And if I work on the Success Arc some more you'll get to have a screaming fight with Roy. *temptingly* You've always wanted to be able to yell at him, haven't you?

Ed: *thoughtful look*

[squeals] [dances]

You know, the bit I liked the best was the oh-so-casual mention that Al was not automatically all right after being returned to himself. Oooooh, the angst!

[settles in to wait for more, whatever more may be]

Not Roy/Hughes....? Whatever you say. It's getting bad when you have to specify.

I really really like this story. Possibly because it's Roy being Roy, without Ed there to confuse his thought processes. I have a deep love for good gen fics.

Okay, livejournal just ate my comment, so fangirling take two.

I really really like this story. Possibly because it features Roy being Roy, without Ed there to confuse his thought processes. It also has a strong Roy/Hughes friendship, which I always enjoy. I have a deep love good gen fics, actually.

Though, seriously, it's getting bad if you have to TELL us it's not Roy/Hughes. Who are you trying to convince, really?

And Ed just LEFT?!?

Please tell me you're picturing a sixteen/seventeen year old Ed here. As much as Al is the center of his world, he doesn't ignore the other people... Or is he waiting until Roy asks him back? Nah, Ed's too smart for that; he's probably waiting for Maas to call him... after all, he said he would look for some field agents; both Ed *and* Al have experience. Once Al is balanced again, he'd be almost as perfect as his brother for troubleshooting. Even if Al doesn't leave Reisenberg after that, Ed's tasted the fruit of knowledge too many times not to want something beyond a small city. To rest, to rejuvenate, to build up the resources, fine. But he won't stay; he can't. Roy and Ed aren't even two sides of the same coin, they're the side of a Mobius strip; they look different, but actually they're the same.
