Whether shounen-ai or merely shounen, the relationship between everybody is what draws me to FMA, especially how Ed and Roy interact... they challenge each other, in their different ways, to be better than what they were. Frankly, I agree with ciceqi's observation that it's kinda of like MFU's Napoleon and Illya... if you know that fandom, anyway.
