Renji gets an offer and wibbles hesitates over it; Byakuya pounds talks some sense into him. Drama, I-3

Renji liked to think that he stayed alert for anything, even when he was at home.

Anything, however, didn't usually include a tiny brat of a fellow vice-captain landing on his shoulders and pounding him on the head with a small but very hard fist.

Mmm. Enjoyable. Although I don't really like Renji being promoted on the gun because he hasn't totally mastered his Bankai; isn't that one of the requirements to be captain?

Byakuya is love. :D

*smiling* Byakyua is great fun to write.

*tips head* The requirement is to achieve bankai, which Renji has. He doesn't have Byakuya's strength and experience, of course--the reason, no doubt, that Byakyua won their fight.
