*mildly frustrated* I think the wiki page I recall was one of the pages on slang terms, but I can't find it now. *sighs* I'm a little inclined to think that the fan-style use comes from the IRC hostmasks, actually. That seems like the right time-frame and 'location' for online fans to have picked up, and the closest match in usage.
