D'aww. There are all sorts of horrible things lurking (mostly) unsaid around the edges of this story, but the overwhelming impression it left me with was warm and happy nakama fluff. Probably the dark stuff helps bring the good stuff into sharper focus. But still. D'aww. *melts*
