Uhm, so someone explain to me why anyone would want to read this tripe? I mean, seeing your own gender killed off or rendered fantastical or, well, put in a shoebox -- over and over and over -- seems kinda self-defeating. Maybe even a bit self-hating. What on earth possibly offsets this story-telling pattern -- I mean, makes it worth reading despite this disturbing misogyny?
