Yes, see, they're working on the assumption that they should be reading for enjoyment, and the /class/ is all about how to read for analysis. Some people can do both at once, but not many! (And those few tend to be the lit profs...) Most people have to kind of separate the two, and if they don't... well, yeah, ruined experience.
